Mustache Transplant Techniques

Since the muscular and nervous system in the facial area is complex and sensitive, not all methods used in hair transplantation are suitable for mustache transplantation.

FUE technique is still a widely preferred and applied method in mustache transplantation operations.

The main difference of FUE mustache transplantation compared to the DHI method is the process of opening the channels or pores where the follicles will be transplanted by a specialist before the collected hair follicles are transplanted. Due to the methods and devices used, it is a method that is a little more independent of the experience level of the specialist performing the transplantation. Although the total duration of the procedure is shorter compared to the DHI method, in the FUE method, the roots are kept in a protective solution during the opening of the pores required for transplantation and spend more time outside the skin.

Until recent years, the FUE technique was the most preferred beard transplant operation. However, since the DHI hair transplantation method is the most sensitive procedure developed, it has become more preferred in beard transplantation operations.

The most important difference between the FUE method and the DHI method is probably the tools used for the operation. Needles called Choi pens are predominantly used instead of punches. The surgeon decides the width of the Choi Pen to be used in the mustache transplant operation according to the patient's condition.

The Choi pen penetrates the skin, transplants the follicles and leaves the skin with minimal discomfort to the surrounding area. Therefore, it provides a more sensitive transplantation process.
