Gynecomastia and Reasons for Preference

Breast enlargement is often the result of an imbalance in the levels of sex hormones.

Estrogen, known as the female hormone, leads to physical changes such as breast growth, while testosterone, known as the male hormone, includes changes such as body hair. However, males produce small amounts of estrogen and females produce low amounts of testosterone. In men, imbalances in testosterone and estrogen cause breast enlargement.

Gynecomastia Techniques

Surgeons may recommend surgery if enlarged breasts are significant and bothersome even after initial treatment or observation. Gynecomastia options include;

Sometimes both liposuction and mastectomy are used to achieve the most beneficial results in gynecomastia surgery.

Through an incision, the surgeon removes the breast tissues with liposuction to eliminate excess fat and excess glandular breast tissue.

In cases where gynecomastia is caused by excess fat tissue, liposuction technique can be used. Liposuction requires the use of a cannula through small incisions.

The cannula is moved in a controlled motion to loosen the excess fat, which is then vacuum suctioned away from the body.

Different liposuction methods can be used for gynecomastia surgery, but the most appropriate method for your case will be determined by your surgeon.

Patients often complain of gynecomastia because of lumps in their breasts, with or without excess fat. Mastectomy is the surgical removal of excess glandular breast tissue through an incision in the nipple-areolar structure and/or at the edge of the skin excision.

Mastectomy is recommended when enlarged breast tissue or excess skin needs to be removed to correct gynecomastia. Incision sizes may vary depending on the specific circumstances and surgical preference.

Men over the age of 18 who are dissatisfied with the appearance and size of their breasts may consider surgery.
No, gynecomastia cannot be treated with medication. Only surgical intervention guarantees to eliminate gynecomastia with permanent results.
Gynecomastia may reappear if there are unknown causes or an increase in body fat before surgery, but it is rare for gynecomastia to occur again after surgery.
Even if sports can help with gynecomastia, it is not a definitive solution. If the cause of gynecomastia is increased fat, it can be treated well with sports, but if the cause is the increased size of the breast tissue, sports will never be enough.
The breast takes its natural shape immediately after surgery, but fluid accumulation, bruising or swelling may occur. These swellings disappear during the first month and the breast takes its final shape after six months.
